hey i’m margot
Artist Statement:
I have been drawing story driven art for as long as I can remember—it helps me process the world and I want people to feel understood and see themselves in my work. I combine my traditional fine art training in portraiture and figure painting and my love of illustration and narrative work into whimsical pieces that tell a story of magic and connection. In my free time, I can be found listening to audiobooks, enjoying nature, or creating new peanut butter recipes.
I am open for commissions for paintings or illustrative projects such as books or graphic novels. Fill out a commission form for more information and to join my email list.
Artist Biography:
Margot is an illustrator interested in depicting the magic of nature, the power of imagination, and the complex world of nostalgia, mythology, and memory. She combines her traditional training in portraiture and figure painting and a love of illustration and narrative into whimsical pieces that tell a story of magic and connection.
After growing up always with a pencil in her hand, Margot started earning her Bachelor of Fine Art at Laguna College of Art and Design in 2022, and is graduating this year. There, she studied under Kenny Harris and Joseph Todorovitch, who helped hone her drawing and painting skills, and John F Malta, who fostered her love of storytelling and illustration.
In 2024, Margot produced a 26 page zine completely in watercolor, and is currently working on a series of illustrative oil paintings to show at the LCAD Gallery in spring of 2026.
